Information Literacy Toolkit

The Information Literacy Toolkit is a collection of resources that faculty and instructors can use to help plan or implement assignments in classes. These resources can help you scaffold research skills into your classes.

Assignment Description

This is a discussion-heavy lesson plan meant to get students thinking about how they encounter news and media, what journalism is, bias or perspective in media outlets, and the challenges of news and fake news on the web. It is only a primer or discussion starter on these topics, and more discussion/reinforcement would be an excellent idea.

This lesson plan is meant for 50 minutes, and is great for a smaller discussion section, but can be adapted to larger groups or longer amounts of time.
