Who can check out a laptop?
Only currently enrolled students are eligible to check out laptops. Students must also check out laptops from the campus they are currently attending.
How long is the laptop loan?
Laptops are checked out for one semester and cannot be kept between semesters. Students must apply for a new laptop each semester.
Am I guaranteed a laptop when I apply?
Once an application is submitted, students must wait on approval from library staff. Approval of the application indicates if a student is eligible for laptop checkout but does not guarantee availability. There are a limited number of laptops available; they are loaned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can I check out/return a laptop at any campus?
Students must apply for laptops through the campus they are attending. Applications submitted to a campus the student is not attending will not be approved. Students must also return laptops and chargers back to the campus where they were checked out.
I'm taking classes at the Bryant Center, where do I get a laptop?
Students attending classes in the Bryant Center must contact an instructor about laptops. They have laptops available specifically for their students.
What if I break or lose a laptop?
The student is responsible for any damage to the laptop and/or charger while checked out. Damages or failure to return a laptop and/or charger will result in a fee being charged to the student’s MGCCC account and a hold being placed until the fee is paid in full. Unreturned laptops will also be remotely shut down and geotracked.
I lost the charger, can I just buy a replacement and turn it in?
No, students must return the charger that was checked out to them. If the charger is lost/damaged students will be charged a replacement fee to their MGCCC account and a hold will be placed until the fee is paid in full.
